For those of us who love Chick-fil-A, surely you know they have something to crow about, regarding their unmatched service. Amazingly, their speed of order-taking, and delivering great chicken dishes to customers, is becoming legendary.
Recently, comedian Brian Bates joked about it in his standup routine:
“Does anyone out there think Chick-fil-A’s drive-thru service is getting a little TOO good?
Their lines are SO long… and order-takers meet you so far out there now… I didn’t realize it was THEM! I thought it was some homeless person with an iPad.” But smiling, she said, “What can we get for you?”
I said, “Uh… I would like… uh… to get off the INTERSTATE first?”
Not surprisingly, Chick-fil-A started out as a SMALL BUSINESS, like many other well-known companies.
However, what separates THEM from most ALL small businesses is, they have harnessed the power of systems and continual improvement.

Yep, my wife and I love going to Chick-fil-A. And, as systems analysts, we have observed their continual improvement process for years.
In countless articles, we’ve been crowing about small businesses achieving great success by simply taking their one location to the next level. Simply stated, systemizing all phases of operations until it runs like a well-oiled machine.
